Participants will learn about the technological mechanisms for delivering E-therapy for substance abuse, the appropriate uses for electronic therapies, the populations for which this modality may be used, and assessments of effectiveness.
Additionally, Participants will consider suggested potential uses of E-therapy and the benefits and challenges associated with such treatment. Next, Participants will become familiar with the issues related to the evaluation of services provided by E-therapy. Also, Participants will learn about the impact of technology on culture and race/ethnicity, including barriers to culture competence.
Next, Participants will focus on legal and regulatory issues. Finally, Participants will address administrative consideration for the provision of E-therapy, including technical support, network security, and billing.
This course is intended to outline key issues concerning the development and implementation of E-therapy services for mental health professionals, social workers, substance abuse professionals, child welfare workers, healthcare professionals, psychologists, or certified addiction specialists.
